dropoff3While we encourage all of our volunteers to use public transportation (see older post a few further down below) to join us at the drive this coming weekend, we know that it’s not always convenient or accessible to all or that there may be other good reasons to drive, i.e., to bring donations, help make deliveries, or bring a carful of volunteers.  No worries, as the parking garage connected directly next to the sorting site location will be open again this year.  The cost is $5 with opening hours as follows:

Friday, 12/6:  opens super early (before 8:00 a.m.)

Saturday, 12/7:  opens at 8:00 a.m.

Sunday, 12/8:  opens at 9:00 a.m.

Street parking is also available near and around the sorting site, but please be prepared that many (but not all) spots may have meters that may be in effect and need to be fed during the course of the weekend.

If you are driving to the sorting site only to drop-off donations, our easy no-fuss curbside drop-off will again be right in front of the sorting site building (1201 Maryland Avenue, SW, on the D Street side) where our cheerful volunteers will greet you and be available to receive the donations.  Vehicles can temporarily park at the curbside to drop-off the donations, so parking will not be an issue in that specific instance.  GFTH signage will be posted outside of the building to mark the sorting site and designated curbside drop-off area.
