Banding Together
Banding Together is an annual battle of the bands fundraising event pitting members of D.C.’s legal community in competition to inspire the audience to donate to their favorite act. The money raised by Banding Together filters directly to goods and services for D.C.’s homeless community. The music goes from 7 to about midnight when the winner is crowned.
Meet Our Bands: Kung Fu Gift Shop (O’Melveny & Myers LLP)
Welcome back Kung Fu Gift Shop (O’Melveny & Myers’s entry) to Banding Together 2014! It is a self-described indie rockin’, guitar oriented, pseudo hippy jam band — see yourself over here when they played at last summer’s Banding Together.
By “voting” for Kung Fu Gift Shop with a donation to Gifts for the Homeless, you are funding the purchase of essential clothing and winter items for distribution through the shelter system in Metropolitan Washington. At the same time, you’ll be helping the band’s quest to be the Banding Together fundraising champion. Every dollar pushes us up in the standings, so give early and give often!
Gifts for the Homeless and Kung Fu Gift Shop thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and hope to see you in person on June 26 at The Black Cat for a set of the guitar-driven, all original rock you’ve come to know and love from the band, with a few surprises that you won’t want to miss. Believe us, if you’re not there, you’ll forever wish you had ventured down to 14th Street to see the show.
Andy, Chris, Mike, Eric and Steve are counting on you to make this the gig of the summer!
And, as an extra special treat, make sure to like Kung Fu Gift Shop on Facebook and follow them on twitter to see how they are getting ready for the big event on Thursday, June 26th!
Meet Our Bands: Buffalo Creek Disaster: Not just another pro bono project (Arnold & Porter LLP)
Come out and support Buffalo Creek Disaster as Arnold & Porter attorneys participate in the epic Battle of the Law Firm Bands to benefit the homeless in the DC metropolitan area.
Arnold & Porter lawyers have a long history of using their legal talents to try and change the world for the better. Consistent with the aphorism that “one great rock show can change the world,” attorneys Eric Rubel, James Thomas, Matt Eisenstein, Stuart Turner, Ryan Watts, and Christina Clark have formed Buffalo Creek Disaster to channel their (perceived) musical talents in the pursuit of one great rock show. The band has sacrificed blood, sweat, and dignity to create the best—although possibly the first—rock band in the law firm’s history. Help Buffalo Creek Disaster carry the banner in their quest to become D.C.’s “Top Law Firm Band,” while also funding the purchase of essential clothing and winter items for distribution throughout the shelter system in metropolitan Washington.
Vote, and vote often for this band by heading over to their Crowrise page right over here. And come support Gifts for the Homeless and Buffalo Creek Disaster at the epic Banding Together: Battle of the Law Firm Bands charity benefit concert at the Black Cat on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 7 p.m.
