Banding Together
Banding Together is an annual battle of the bands fundraising event pitting members of D.C.’s legal community in competition to inspire the audience to donate to their favorite act. The money raised by Banding Together filters directly to goods and services for D.C.’s homeless community. The music goes from 7 to about midnight when the winner is crowned.
Meet Our Bands: Estoppelgangers (Latham & Watkins LLP)
Estoppelgängers was breathed into life by Latham & Watkins LLP when mother melody and daddy rhythm came together in a glorious moment of musical ecstasy and gave unto the world a new sound – the sound of whimsical galumphing. Hailing from the North, West, South, and Silver Spring, the members of Estoppelgängers have been jamming out since last Tuesday when they converged on the corner of F and 11th, NW with a song in their hearts and a pep in their step. Displaying virtuosic gifts on the cello, English horn, harpsichord, and hammer dulcimer, this band can rock in any genre, but prefers to limit its seemingly endless talent to Marilyn Manson and Taylor Swift covers. Estoppelgängers would like to thank their fans and let them all know that the band has always and will continue to dedicate every song to “keeping one’s professional options open.”
Meet Our Bands: The Perks (Perkins Coie LLP)
The confluence of international trade, intellectual property, energy and environmental resources led to a band known as The Perks from Perkins Coie LLP. The Perks are a combination so compelling that it boggles the mind why they have yet to release an album.
In their day jobs, the members of The Perks can be seen in meetings and teleconferences, often taking notes and working on computers. Their appearance at Banding Together 2014, however, will be a bit different, but promises to be even more exciting.
They come on Thursday, June 26th from far and wide, including Hollywood, California; Potomac; McLean; Olney; the People’s Republic of China; and Alexandria. The Perks wish to thank everyone for their support and patience, and most of all their large and frequent donations to Gifts for the Homeless.
