GFTH has held a used clothing drive every year since 1989. Over the years, the drive has expanded exponentially –
- with fewer than 1,000 bags of clothing distributed the first year to more than 4,500 large bags distributed in 2006, and
- from a handful of volunteers to several hundred volunteers!
The 2007 annual GFTH Used Clothing Drive was held on the weekend of Nov. 30 - Dec. 2. Once again we sorted donated clothing and other items at The Portals III on D Street SW. 321 volunteers helped us sort and deliver 3,945 bags of good quality used clothing, blankets, luggage and other items to 78 shelters and other facilities that serve the homeless throughout the Washington DC metropolitan area.
We are grateful to Republic Properties Corporation for generously helping us secure the use of The Portals III for our 2007 Used Clothing Drive.

The 2006 Used Clothing Drive was held on Friday, Dec. 1 through Sunday, Dec. 3. We sorted at The Portals III, located on D Street SW, between 12th and 13th Streets SW. We delivered 4,601 bags of used clothing to 72 shelters in Washington, D.C. and the Maryland and Virginia suburbs!
